Preah Khan
The 'sacred sword' Preah Khan was build as a Buddhist temple. It served as a monastery and teaching center. It is to the north of Angkor Thom and part of a group which includes Neak Pean and Ta Som. Preah Khan also has several Hindu shrines, even though it is a Buddhist monument. Preah Khan is my favorite temple complex at Angkor, because it can be a quiet place (if you know when to go) where you can stroll around and discover new things every time you turn around. The jungle, which is growing around Preah Khan, provides a very special setting for the buildings.
