The setting of this mission is just spectacular. If there were no cars to hear from the nearby freeway, one would feel like making a trip back in time. You should allow a lot of time to visit this mission because walking through all the buildings and the nearby gardens is a great experience. The original Mission was actually destroyed in the 'year of the earthquakes' of 1812 and relocated a few miles further down. About 1000 Cumash indians lived on Mission lands and even today there is buildings where you can see how they lived at the time.

You might want to notice that La Purísima Concepción is the most expensive mission to visit, since it is now a State Park, but it is well worth the 5$.
