San Gabriel Arcángel

Founded September 8, 1771

I was wondering what reminded me of this mission. It has been build in the same style as the Cathedral of Cordoba, Spain! The main entrance is on it's side. The garden is a must to visit and so is the "Companario" - the Spanish walls which holds the bells.  In the grave yard about 6000 Indians have been buried. It is said to be the oldest grave yard in L.A. county.

The mission is located in the City of San Gabriel, ten miles east of L.A., on Mission Drive. It's a real challenge to follow the historic mission signs on the freeway system!
