San José de Guadalupe

Founded June 11, 1779

The mission San José de Guadalupe is one of the nicest I have seen, despite the fact that an earthquake destroyed it in 1868. The church is very impressive and don't forget to take a walk through the grave yard. The mission is located 15 Miles (!) north of San Jose on Highway 21. If you make it through the evening traffic, seeing this mission at sunset is a pure reward and lets you forget the stress of silicon valley.
