Nuestra Señora de la Soledad

Founded in 1791

The design of this mission is very simple but it is nevertheless beautiful. It is located west of the town of Soledad in Monterey County. It sits in the middle of fertile and irrigated farmlands. Floods have washed away the mission several times and what remains today is just the original chapel which was restored. In 1954 only a pile of rubble was left and remains of the old church can still be seen behind the mission.
